Giraffe Manor
Set in a serene, leafy suburb of Nairobi on a 140-acre forested sanctuary, the manor is perfectly situated for easy access to the city’s major attractions and airports. Whether at the start or end of an East African safari, it offers a captivating and magical retreat. Wake up to a breakfast with the Giraffes at Nairobi's original "Giraffe hotel". The accommodation style is classic, rustic and simple, the special interest being your encounter with Rothschild Giraffe roaming free in the gardens in the morning and popping in for a snack, before they head out to the Giraffe Center next door. Availability as a result of the hotel's novelty and rising international fame is extremely scarce, therefore, early reservations (atleast a year or two ahead of travel) are necessary to secure a room.
Giraffe Manor diaries
Located in the subburb of Kenya, named after Karen Blixen who journeyed to Kenya from Denmark with the intent of marrying her friend, Baron Bror von Blixen Fincke, and starting a dairy farm. However, upon her arrival, she discovered that the Baron had, instead, invested in coffee—a venture that would prove to be a challenging and ultimately unsuccessful endeavor. Despite the setbacks, Blixen's remarkable determination, resilience, and grace earned her deep respect from those around her.In 1964, as a symbol of friendship and goodwill, the Danish government gifted Blixen’s former home to Kenya upon its independence. Decades later, in 1985, her captivating autobiography, Out of Africa, was transformed into an Academy Award-winning film, bringing her story to a global audience. In the same year, her house (located next to Giraffe Manor) was turned into a museum, preserving her legacy and offering visitors a glimpse into her extraordinary life in Africa.

Fireside favorites
Betty-the-giraffe was born in 2000 and came to Giraffe Manor in 2002. She is one of the smallest and prettiest giraffes here but she is also the shyest. Betty is named after Betty Leslie-Melville, otherwise known as “The Giraffe Lady”, and her husband Jock who purchased the manor in the 1970s. She always said that the purchase of the stately home in a leafy suburb of Nairobi changed her life.

Every moment at Giraffe Manor feels like stepping into a dream, where nature and comfort converge in the most delightful way. The giraffes are, without question, the heart of Giraffe Manor. Guests can experience the joy of feeding these gentle giants during breakfast or afternoon tea, as they gracefully extend their long necks through the windows.
Giraffe Manor features a Spa and the Daisy’s Café. A pool setting in the gardens for a quick dip. Attractions nearby include the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, well worth a visit and the Karen Blixen museum. The original Manor House features six rooms: Betty, Daisy, Jock, Lynn, Marlon and the Karen Blixen Suite. And the newly-built 2011 Garden Manor also has six rooms: Salma, Edd, Arlene, Helen, Kelly and the Finch Hatton Suite. A short stroll across the front lawn of the Giraffe Manor brings you to the AFEW (African Fund for Endangered Wildlife) Giraffe Centre, a sanctuary for the Rothschild Giraffe and wildlife conservation.

The Garden Manor, a newer wing built in 2011, adds a touch of modern luxury with six elegantly designed ensuite bedrooms, where giraffes frequently wander by in search of treats.
