Out of Africa safari diaries
The original 1929 Gipsy moth plane, GAAMY, featured in the film Out of Africa was acquired by Segera and auctioned at Sotheby's to help raise funds for the lodge's new Rhino conservancy. American actor Robert Redford who played Denys Finch Hatton in the film was actively involved with Segera's Zeitz Foundation and issued a signed letter as part of this significant fundraiser:
“ This plane is a symbol of my first introduction to Kenya and its extraordinary landscapes, people, and wildlife. It also helped millions of people around the world see the beauty of Kenya on film for the first time and serves as a much-needed reminder that nature is precious and needs to be conserved before it's too late. Raising funds to help protect one of Kenya's last remaining wilderness areas and save a species would be the perfect next chapter in GAAMY's incredible story, and I am honored to join the ZEITZ Foundation in this endeavor." - Robert Redford
